ABBEY, DEBORAH Born in Grafton and a graduate of the University of North Dakota with a master's degree in social work, Deb has always lived in the Red River Valley. Where there is motion there is energy. Where there is energy there is life."

ARGALL, TARA Tara Argall has been creating art most of her life. Her love of texture and color invites her to try many different mediums and techniques until she gets exactly the look she was going for. She specializes and is known for her mixed media work incorporating just about anything. Nothing is sacred when it comes to art.

AXTMAN, KEITH From Rock to Country to Pop to Christian to Folk, few songwriters possess Keith Axtman's ability to present a variety of genres through his music. Keith takes his powerful, soaring vocals that demand attention, adds a generous helping of carefully thought-out melodies and lyrical hooks, and presents a guitar and vocal showcase few can ignore. Ketih spent several years traveling across the country as lead vocalist and guitarist for the country/rock band Lonesome Run. He shared acclaim when one of his songs placed him in the top one percent of Billboard Songwriters contest.

BAKKE, KAREN Karen started painting when she was 13 and continued through high school and college. A 19 year career as a artist/designer at an agency and freelance artist followed. In 1995, she decided to paint full time, primarily artwork on large canvases and wall mural, both public and private. "Fresco painting has become an "energy force" in my artistic expression. When looking at my art, I want the viewer to see and feel good about life and appreciate the beauty that surrounds them on a daily basis."

BORGE, JOHN A nationally-recognized photographer, John's work encompasses a variety of styles: you'll find excellent fine art prints in black and white, color, and polaroid transfers. Tom's music is original, some call it "contemporary folk" with some love intertwined.

ROURKE, BRACKEN "I wanted to make tile. It sounds so simple! Beginning with framed and decorative tile and working with galleries and shops, I developed my unique style. Portraits, landscapes, still lifes, pet portaits, corporate art, abstracts, among other types of paintings are all done with personalized service. She lives in Fargo with her husband and their two sons.

SIEGLE, JUDY It happened so fast. In a split second, Judy's dream of playing college basketball was shattered when a drunk driver sped through a stop sign near her hometown of Pelican Rapids, Minn. The car crash left her with a broken neck. At 18, she faced life in a wheelchair. But that's not the end of the story. Judy, now a national speaker and editor of "Living Without Limits," is an inspiration.

SOLBERG, KIM Kim Solberg is known for her attention to detail, a vital skill in her work as a graphic designer and greeting card stylist. She studied art at Montana State, Bozeman, and received a degree in art from the Univ of North Dakota. She taught Art History and Appreciation at North Dakota State College of Science. “Working as a potter since 1984, I rekindled my love of photography in 1993 after being introduced to the Polaroid transfer process. This extraordinary process portrays my work with subtlety as I attempt to capture on film, a feeling as well as an image. To me, my work is about light and observation, enhanced by experimentation and discovery. By closely exploring the world that surrounds us, we can rediscover wonder and beauty.”

STONE, MEL For more than 20 years, Mel has been a photographer and reporter (one-man band) for KVLY-TV. He does something called the “Stone Report” (www.kvlytv11.com). During those years of shooting TV news stories, he also dabbled in still photography, but buying a digital, still camera was a breakthrough: no more wasted film. "Living in Fargo and the Red River Valley, I see the same thing people living here see, but I hope I see it differently. I try to capture that unique point of view in my photographs."

TEMPLETON, GIN In our daily lives, the view of the world around us gets passed over until we stop and focus on a particular view. Gin's intention when painting is to capture a moment in time and space by selecting a segment of the landscape from its context so we can see the beauty and energy in the environment. She uses an impressionistic style by layering energetic strokes to convey the pattern of light and shadow and color. Cards and original paintings are now available.

THOMPSON, MATT Matt was born and raised in Alexandria, MN, and attended college at the University of Minn-Morris, where he studied painting and sculpture, and applied his love of form and composition to a new medium when he studied graphic design at Alexandria Technical College. THRASHER, LUCY Lucy, a brilliant soprano, has performed throughout the Upper Midwest as soloist in opera, oratorio, recital and symphonic works. Lucy has ben musically "crossing over" since the age of five. She is Assistant Professor of Voice and Opera Workshop at Concordia College, Moorhead, MN. Since 1998, Lucy has also been Director of the Resident Opera Artist Program at the Pine Mountain Music Festival, Michigan.

He is a multifaceted artist who has and continues to produce numerous works in multiple disciplines with his main focus in painting. Many of his paintings are in private collections throughout the region. Although he moved away for a few years, he moved back to Fargo for many reasons. One of which is the North Dakota landscape, which inspires much of his photography: from the grand scale of the sunsets to the intricate details that would normally go unnoticed.

WARCUP, JANNA With freedom in mind, Janna creates her abstract and nonobjective watermedia paintings and collages. Although color and movement are most important to her, using experimental methods to produce texture is a great treat for her. Janna is also a photographer who shows and sells her work in the region.

Artists: If you live in the greater Fargo area and have cool artwork, and want to be included on FargoStuff.com, please read this ARTIST INFO.

Thank you for your interest in fargostuff.com.

SECTION ONE explains who we are and guidelines for submitting work for the consideration of fargostuff.com.

SECTION TWO explains the procedures once selected to be a part of the fargostuff.com online store.

SECTION ONE: Submitting work for consideration.

Who is fargostuff?
fargostuff.com is an online Web store owned by Borge Incorporated, Fargo, ND (John Borge, a professional photographer, serves as Creative Director; Kathy Borge, a marketing and public relations specialist, is Director of Operations and Marketing. Together, they select the artists and items for the site).

What’s the main goal?
fargostuff.com is a national store with a mission to sell art and other cool stuff produced by people in the greater Fargo area (includes Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo and surrounding areas).

What artists are considered?
Those who are creative and produce art are eligible. All art-forms and mediums are considered, i.e. music, sculpture, painting, mixed media, photography, sculpture, books, etc. A person does not have to be a professional full time artist to be part of fargostuff.com.

How do we communicate?
THIS IS IMPORTANT.
fargostuff.com communicates with its artists almost entirely by email. (OK, an occasional party brings us face-to-face.) So, you must have access to email and check it on a regular basis. By email, we let you know of upcoming promotions, featured artists, and most importantly, when your items sell and we need to prepare to ship them out!

What can I do to be considered?
1. Please visit fargostuff.com and review the site so that you have a good understanding of what’s there.
2. After you have reviewed the site and this information sheet and would like to be considered, please provide samples of your work (just a few so we can see the style and quality) via email to service@fargostuff.com. The sample work should be in the form of .jpg files.
3. You will be notified within approx. two weeks (please know that we get lots of requests and we process them as fast as we can). What we are looking for is first: quality, and second: uniqueness. As the store grows, we want to broaden the type of art offered. (i.e. if the “card line” is overflowing, we will not add a new card line unless unique, but we will start a new category of product type).

Is this store secure?
The site is secure. www.fargostuff.com is managed by Borge, Inc. which includes content changes and additions. Its server is prestostore, a national shopping cart. We accept Visa and Mastercard. Checks or cash are not accepted unless we are at a special event and are selling items or taking orders face-to-face.

SECTION TWO: Once You Have Been Selected

TWO THINGS FIRST
1. fargostuff.com will need to have the original art in a .jpg format (72 dpi, 4 inches across). If you do not have digital files or high quality .jpgs, fargostuff.com can photograph the items for you for a nominal charge of $5 per item. We provide you with a CD of your images for your use as well.

2. We also need a .jpg photograph of you (any setting will do: outdoor, indoor, casual, formal). Include approx. 4 sentences about yourself, your art, your life. Even key words are fine. We will edit to fit. If you do not have a digital photo, fargostuff.com can take a photo of you for $20.

How many items can I submit?
fargostuff.com will need to see all work you wish to include on the site. There is no minimum or maximum; the quantity is determined by fargostuff.com. We do, however, keep to a minimum items that are too similar from one artist to another.

What information do you need on my items?
Category and Sub-Category, Name of Item, Brief Description of Item, Size(s) of Item, Color(s) of Item, Price, Delivery timeframe if custom item, quantity in inventory. This information must be emailed as a .doc file.

How does inventory work?
fargostuff.com does not stock inventory in their offices as a normal part of business (only items that are everyday sellers are stocked; we monitor purchases to find these trends.) You are responsible to let us know if you’re running out of inventory or if items are “onesies” or originals.

How can I be featured artist?
We feature different artists on the store on a rotating basis. If you have a particular seasonal or timely item, let us know and we will try to accommodate requests. (and we need your photo!)

How do I get paid?
You will receive a check by the 15th of the month for all items sold the previous month, regardless of the amount.

What percent does fargostuff.com get?
Pricing varies depending upon the type of item: an original painting, a poster, a tshirt, a book, etc. For example, as the artist, you provide us with your "wholesale" price (the price you want fargostuff to pay you for your item). Like all stores, fargostuff marks up the item to a retail price (we take into consideration mailing costs, processing fees, and all the costs associated with running fargostuff, etc.).

What happens when my art is sold?
We will notify you by email. At that point, you have four working days (M-F) to bring the item(s) to fargostuff.com offices on the 14th Floor of the Radisson in downtown Fargo. If your item(s) is handmade and production takes a few weeks, that is indicated on the site. Again, it is important that we keep in touch via email.

How does a customer receive their item?
Items are shipped UPS Ground or US Mail from fargostuff.com offices in downtown Fargo.

How are returns handled?
Fargostuff.com guarantees customer satisfaction. Customers have ten days after receipt of product to return merchandise. fargostuff.com will refund the customer’s entire cost. fargostuff pays for return shipping; the artist will not receive payment for that item and the item will be returned to the artist.

How about custom work?
All inquiries regarding particular artists and requests for custom work, is received by service@fargostuff.com. We forward this to the artist via email.
The 20 percent commission to fargostuff.com applies on all art that is ordered due to fargostuff.

How do you market the store?
We use a combination of promotion, publicity, events, and advertising. Yet, we have found the best form of advertising is word of mouth. All artists help in this effort. “The products are great. The artists are talented. There’s great stuff to choose from. And shopping is fun!” Tell everyone that your great stuff is now available at fargostuff.com!

How do you drive traffic to the store?
Besides the activities listed above, two other things occur: Non-profit organizations holding events sell tickets through the store, for a nominal fee. This works extremely well. And, schools, hockey teams, and organizations can use the Four-Cities product line as fundraisers. If you have an item that is mass-produced and would like to consider fundraisers, let us know.

As an artist, what can I do to help?
Put a link on your email and your Web site to www.fargostuff.com. Business cards are also available for your use. Toss a card in any envelope or package you send. You’ll be amazed how the word can spread. And keep making great art. If you have an idea, run it by us.

The possibilities are endless. I’m overwhelmed!
It’s OK to start with just a few items. Many of our artists started slow and build from there. We’re happy to work with you in providing a manageable way for you to start.

Do you guarantee you’ll sell my stuff?
Although we do not guarantee that we will sell 1 or 10 or 100 of your items, we can tell you that we work diligently to promote fargostuff.com and the artists’ great stuff. But the more you help in this effort, the more stuff you will sell.

What if I want to quit? Or you want to quit?
There is no legally binding contract required. We do ask that you indicate you have read this entire document and understand it fully by returning an email to us. If at anytime you wish to be deleted from fargostuff.com, we ask for two weeks notice, by email. We will pull all products in that timeframe. All orders pending must be filled prior to that time, or an agreed upon time. At the same token, we reserve the right to discontinue an artist’s work in the same manner.

Further questions?
Email service@fargostuff.com and we’ll respond.

Thank you!
